The Best Dash Mount Jeep Wrangler JK Smartphone Mount
I was searching for the best way to mount my iPhone in my jeep and the search wasn’t as easy as I thought it would be. I didn’t want a vent mount for numerous reasons and that eliminated probably 80% of the available mounts. That lead me to a couple conclusions. For starters many of the mounts are junk at any price. Next there is no perfect mount. I want a dash mount that’s a wireless charger that also doesn’t take up space in the dashboard tray. I also do not want a charging cable always hanging out of the cigarette lighter. Now in fairness there’s a very expensive mount, about $160, it’s still not perfect. So what does this mean?
It means two things, for short term I ordered the Rugged Ridge mount listed below and more exciting, I decided to make my own mount.
Update September 29, 2019: So I have now been using this mount for 5 months. The only issue I have is that when my iPhone is in it’s Quad lock Case and charging while in direct sunlight for extended periods the phone overheats and dims. I believe that this will be the case with any mount and prolonged direct sunlight. I have an idea though…stay tuned.
